पिता की चारपाई – Father’s Cot – एक बार एक पिता (Father) जिद कर रहाँ था कि उसकी चारपाई (cot) गैलरी में डाल दी जाये। बेटा परेशान था। बहू बड़बड़ा रही थी….. कोई बुजुर्गों को अलग कमरा नहीं देता, हमने दूसरी मंजिल पर ही सही एक कमरा तो दिया…. सब सुविधाएं हैं, नौकरानी भी दे रखी है। पता नहीं, सत्तर की उम्र में सठिया गए हैं?

निकित ने सोचा पिता (Father) कमजोर और बीमार हैं…. जिद कर रहे हैं तो उनकी चारपाई (cot) गैलरी में डलवा ही देता हूँ। पिता (Father) की इच्छा पू्री करना उसका स्वभाव भी था।

अब पिता (Father) की चारपाई (cot) गैलरी में आ गई थी। हर समय चारपाई (cot) पर पडे रहने वाले पिता (Father) अब टहलते टहलते गेट तक पहुंच जाते। कुछ देर लान में टहलते। लान में खेलते नाती – पोतों से बातें करते , हंसते , बोलते और मुस्कुराते। कभी-कभी बेटे से मनपसंद खाने की चीजें लाने की फरमाईश भी करते। खुद खाते , बहू – बेटे और बच्चों को भी खिलाते ….धीरे-धीरे उनका स्वास्थ्य अच्छा होने लगा था।

दादा मेरी बाल फेंको… गेट में प्रवेश करते हुए निकित ने अपने पाँच वर्षीय बेटे की आवाज सुनी तो बेटे को डांटने लगा… 

अंशुल बाबा बुजुर्ग हैं उन्हें ऐसे कामों के लिए मत बोला करो।

पापा! दादा रोज हमारी बॉल उठाकर फेंकते हैं….अंशुल भोलेपन से बोला।

क्या… “निकित ने आश्चर्य से पिता (Father) की तरफ देखा!”… हां, बेटा तुमने ऊपर वाले कमरे में सुविधाएं तो बहुत दी थीं। लेकिन अपनों का साथ नहीं था। तुम लोगों से बातें नहीं हो पाती थी। जब से गैलरी में चारपाई (cot) पड़ी है, निकलते बैठते तुम लोगों से बातें हो जाती है। शाम को अंशुल -पाशी का साथ मिल जाता है।

पिता (Father) कहे जा रहे थे  और निकित सोच रहा था….. 

बुजुर्गों को शायद भौतिक सुख सुविधाऔं से ज्यादा अपनों के साथ की जरूरत होती है ।

बुज़ुर्गों  का सम्मान करें यह हमारी धरोहर हैं …!

यह वो पेड़ हैं जो थोड़े कड़वे हैं लेकिन इनके फल बहुत मीठे हैं और इनकी छांव का कोई मुक़ाबला नहीं !!

The daughter-in-law was murmuring….. no one gives separate room to the elderly, we have given a room right on the second floor….. have all the facilities, have also given a maid. Now the father’s cot had come in the gallery. The father, who was lying on the cot all the time, would now walk till the gate while walking. Walked in the lawn for a while.
