नीम के पत्ते – Neem leaves – एक महात्मा (साधु) एक गांव से थोड़ी दूर, एक शांत इलाके में अपनी कुटिया में अपने एक नौकर के साथ रहते थे।

दो शहरी नौजवान उनके पास अपनी समस्या लेकर आये “महात्मा (साधु) जी, हमने सुना है, आप हर समस्या का समाधान जानते हैं।

“तुम निश्चिन्त होकर मुझे अपनी समस्या बताओ,”

“बात ऐसी है, हम लोग इस शहर में नए आये है,यहाँ दहशत का माहौल है, यहाँ आवारा लोगों का बसेरा है। सड़कों पर गुज़रते हुए लोगों  से बदतमीज़ी की जाती है, आते जाते लोगों को गालियाँ दी जाती है। कुछ दबंग लोग शराब पीकर सड़क किनारे खड़े हो जाते हैं और सामने से गुज़रते हुए लोगों के साथ बदसुलूकी करते हैं, उन्हें गालियाँ देते हैं, हाथा-पाई पर उतर आते हैं।

पहला नौजवान बोला, “हम परेशान हो गए, भला ऐसे समाज में कौन रहना चाहेगा, आप ही बताएं..??

दोनों नौजवान की बात सुनकर महात्मा (साधु) जी चारपाई से उठे और यह बडबडाते हुए कि “यह समस्या बहुत गंभीर है,” कुटिया के बाहर चल दिए । नौजवान ने बाहर जाकर देखा, वो शांत खड़े अपने कुटिया के सामने वाली सड़क को देख रहे थे।

अगले ही पल वो मुड़कर दोनों नौजवानो से बोले, “बेटा एक काम करोगे,” महात्मा (साधु) दूर इशारा करते हुए बोले, “ये सड़क देखो.. जहांये सड़क मुड़ती है, वही सामने एक नीम का बड़ा पेड़ है, ज़रा मेरे लिए वहाँ से कुछ नीम के पत्ते तोड़ लाओगे ।”

“ज़रूर महात्मा (साधु) जी, जैसा आप कहे,” कहकर दोनों नौजवान ने कदम बढ़ा दिए, परन्तु महात्मा (साधु) उन्हें रोकते हुए बोले, “ठहरो बेटा….जाने से पहले मैं तुम्हें बता दूँ, रास्ते में कई आवारा कुत्ते हैं, जो तुम्हें अपना शिकार बना सकते हैं, वो बहुत खूंखार हैं, तुम्हारी जान भी जा सकती है, क्या तुम वो पत्ते ला पाओगे..??”

नौजवानों ने एक दूसरे को देखा, और उनके चेहरे के हाव भाव देख कर महात्मा (साधु) समझ गए कि वे डरे हुए तोथे, परन्तु वहाँ जाने केलिए तैयार थे । दोनों नौजवान उस सड़क पर चल दिए, वो सड़क पर से गुज़रे, रास्ते में उन्हें काफी आवारा कुत्ते सड़क किनारे बैठे मिले ।

उन्होंने कोशिश कि वो उन्हें पार कर जायें, परन्तु यह करना आसान नहीं था , जैसे ही वो एक कुत्ते के करीब से गुज़रे, कुत्ते ने उन्हें काट खाने वाली भूखी निगाहों से घूरा, वो कोशिश करते उन्हें पार करने की, परन्तु यह करना जान जोखिम में डालने के बराबर था ।

काफी देर इंतज़ार करने के बाद जबवे लौटे तब महात्मा (साधु) ने देखा, उनके हाथ खाली थे, और वो काफी डरे हुए थे।

वो महात्मा (साधु) के करीब आये और बोले– “हमे माफ़ कर दीजिये,” पहला नौजवान बोला, “ये रास्ता बहुत खतरनाक है, रास्ते मेंबहुत खूंखार कुत्ते थे, हम ये काम नहीं कर पाए।”

दूसरा नौजवान बोला, “हमने दो चार कुत्तों को झेल लिया परन्तु आगे जाने पर कुत्तों ने हम पर हमला कर दिया, हम जैसे तैसे करके अपनीजा न बचाकर वापिस आये हैं।”

महात्मा (साधु) बिना कुछ बोले कुटिया के अन्दर चलते गए, और अपने नौकर को साथ लेकर बाहर आये । उन्होंने नौकर से वो पत्ते तोड़ने के लिए कहा। नौकर उसी सड़क से गया । वह कुत्तों के बीच से गुज़रा । परन्तु जब काफी देर बाद, दोनों नौजवानों ने नौकर को सड़क से वापिस अपनी ओर आते देखा, तब देखा उसके हाथ नीम के पत्तों से भरे थे।

ये देखकर दोनों नौजवान भौचक्के रह गए । महात्मा (साधु) बोले, “बेटा ये मेरा नौकर है, ये अँधा है… हालांकि ये देख नहीं सकता, परन्तु कौन सी चीज़ कहाँ पर है, इसे पूरा ज्ञान है। ये रोज़ मुझे नीम के पत्ते लाकर देता है.. और जानते हो क्यों इसे आवारा कुत्ते नहीं काटते, क्योंकि ये उनकी तरफ ज़रा भी ध्यान नहीं देता”!

महात्मा (साधु) आगे बोले, “जीवन में एक बात हमेशा याद रखना बेटा, जिस व्यर्थ की चीज़ पर तुम सबसे ज्यादा ध्यान दोगे, वह चीज़ तुम्हें उतनी ही काटेगी। इसलिए अच्छा होगा, तुम अपना ध्यान अपने लक्ष्य पर रखो

Neem leaves कहानी से शिक्षा –

इन दो नौजवानों की तरह हम भी अपने जीवन में कुछ ऐसा ही अनुभव करते हैं । हमारा जीवन भी खूंखार मोड़ो से भरा होता है। न जाने कौनसे मोड़ पर मौत हमें गले लगा ले परन्तु यह सिर्फ हम पर निर्भर करता है कि, हम उन नौजवानों की तरह डरकर वापिस लौट आते है या फिर नौकर की तरह धैर्य और हिम्मत से आगे कदम बढाते हैं और अपना लक्ष्य हासिल करते हैं!

Lockdown के समय मे नकरात्मक वातावरण में अनेको रोते हुए, बहाने बनाते हुए तथा दूसरों को कोस कोस के कामचोर बने रहने वाले आसपास के सभी लोगो को आप नजर अंदाज करके आत्मनिर्भर बनने के लिए लक्ष्य की दिशा में निरन्तर बढ़ते रहियेगा!!

Some domineering people drink and stand on the roadside and while passing in front, misbehave with the people, abuse them, get into a scuffle.

The first young man said, “We got upset, who would want to live in such a society, you tell me…??

Hearing the words of the two young men, Mahatma (sage) ji got up from the cot and walked out of the hut, murmuring that “this problem is very serious”. The young man went outside and saw, he was standing quietly looking at the road in front of his hut.

The next moment he turned and said to both the young men, “Son, will you do one thing,” the Mahatma (sage) pointing away said, “Look at this road.. Where this road turns, there is a big neem tree in front, just look for me. You will pluck some neem leaves from there.

Saying “Sure Mahatma (Sage) ji, as you say,” both the young men stepped forward, but the Mahatma (Sage) stopped them and said, “Wait son….Let me tell you before leaving, there are many stray dogs on the way. Those who can make you their victim, they are very dangerous, you can also lose your life, will you be able to bring those leaves..??”

The young men looked at each other, and seeing the expressions on their faces, the Mahatma (sages) understood that they were scared parrots, but were ready to go there. Both the young men walked on that road, they passed on the road, on the way they found many stray dogs sitting on the side of the road.

He tried to cross them, but it was not easy to do, as soon as he passed near a dog, the dog stared at him with a biting hungry gaze, he tried to cross them, but doing so risked his life. was equivalent to putting in.

When he returned after waiting for a long time, the Mahatma (sage) saw, his hands were empty, and he was very scared.

He came close to the Mahatma (sage) and said – “Forgive us,” said the first young man, “this road is very dangerous, there were many dreaded dogs on the way, we could not do this work.”

The other young man said, “We took two or four dogs, but after going forward, the dogs attacked us, we have come back without saving our lives somehow.”

The Mahatma (sage) went inside the hut without saying anything, and came out with his servant. He asked the servant to pluck those leaves. The servant went by the same road. He passed among the dogs. But when, after a long time, the two young men saw the servant coming back towards them from the road, they saw that his hands were full of neem leaves.

Seeing this, both the young men were stunned. The Mahatma (sage) said, “Son, this is my servant, he is blind… Although he cannot see, he has complete knowledge of what is where. He brings me neem leaves every day.. and you know why stray dogs don’t bite him, because he doesn’t pay any attention to them.”

The Mahatma (sage) further said, “Always remember one thing in life, son, the pointless thing on which you pay the most attention, that thing will bite you as much. So it’s better to keep your focus on your goal

Like these two young people, we too experience something similar in our lives. Our life too is full of dreadful twists. Don’t know at which point death embraces us, but it is only up to us whether we come back fearing like those young men or we move forward with patience and courage like servants and achieve our goal!

In the time of lockdown, in a negative environment, you will keep moving towards the goal of becoming self-reliant by ignoring all the people around you who are crying, making excuses and cursing others.
